Natividad Alvarez Negron

In Loving Memory of Natividad Alvarez Negron December 5, 1930 – June 26, 2025 Affectionately known as “Naty” or “Doña Guane.” She was born on December 5, 1930, in the picturesque town of Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Her parents were Don Eladio Álvarez Alvarado and Doña Rosa Negrón Torres. She was part of a large family, being the oldest of eight siblings in total. She and her sister Elvira were full siblings. Additionally, she had five half-siblings on her father’s side: Lydia, Rosin, Wilfredo, Eva, and María, as well as her half-sister Dulce María on her mother’s side Later in life, she met her beloved husband, Agapito Mercado Ruiz, better known as Tito, in the La Changa neighborhood in Caguas. They married on March 3, 1960, and were together for 65 years. They lived for a time in Puerto Rico, several years in New Jersey, and finally settled in Saint Cloud, Florida. While in New Jersey, Naty worked for many years as a supervisor at a food warehouse in Lakawana, Jersey City. God allowed them to build a beautiful and large family. Together they built a life based on love, respect, and unwavering devotion. Naty was very blessed with the greatest gift that God can give a woman: motherhood. She was the mother of twelve children (eleven living): Digna, Pedro, Oscar, Annie, Luis, Norma, Myrna, Olga, Nerida, Mayra, and Raúl. Countless attributes and virtues adorned this beautiful woman, small in stature but with a huge heart. She was a person who earned the respect and affection of everyone who knew her. Kind, generous, hospitable, a gracious hostess, and noble of heart. She was caring, loving, giving, friendly, selfless, and an excellent cook. Wherever there was a need, she was there to bless. Wherever she lived, she built lasting friendships. Even her doctors and nurses were her friends. Natividad’s legacy is filled with love. She was a proud grandmother of 36 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 56, and great-great-grandmother of 6. She always made an effort to visit and spend time with her family, no matter how many trips it took. Some time in Puerto Rico, others in New Jersey, and many in Pennsylvania. Likewise, her children and grandchildren made it a point to travel and spend time with their mother and grandmother at her home. A living testimony of the deep roots she planted and the love she always gave. Natividad loved to cook, bake and do her crossword puzzles. She liked to teach her grandkids how to cook and bake, just like she did. But she especially loved to make “batidas” and pancakes for her grandkids. If the kids didn’t eat, she would scare them with “la vieja loca”, but she catered to their likes and dislikes. Naty loved her scratch-off lotto tickets and made a tradition of letting her grandkids scratch them with her. She would also have fun in the most unexpected ways, like teaching her grandchildren what the best baseball team was, the Yankees of course, how to play Mario on the NES Nintendo with the hidden tricks, showing them that grandmas can game, too. We highlight that, as a Christian woman, God allowed her to be a member of El Líbano Church in Kissimmee, with Pastor Hector Martinez, Pastor Tita, and Pastor Keila. She lived her spirituality with humility, kindness, and an open heart. Her strength was quiet but powerful, and her love was constant and unconditional. She loved each and every member and was a grandmother figure to the children who loved her dearly. She was a great contributor to the church, dedicated in her duties and commitments as part of the body of Christ. Faithful to God, His Word, and her faith community. God always sustained her throughout her life. She was a woman strong in spirit. She never complained, never stopped smiling, never stopped believing in her God, and never stopped loving. On June 26, just a couple of days after celebrating her 95th birthday, God called her into His presence, tenderly whispering in her ear: "Come, I will show you the new room I have prepared for you." Natividad was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the heart of the family. A woman of deep love, endless generosity, and boundless joy. She made every person in her life feel special. Her legacy lives on in every recipe, every prayer, every laugh shared by those who knew and loved her. We will miss her dearly, but we carry her in everything we do. Her life was a blessing. Her memory is a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. En Memoria de Natividad Alvarez Negrón 5 de diciembre de 1930 – 26 de junio del 2025 Cariñosamente conocida como “Naty” o “Doña Guane”. Nació el 5 de diciembre de 1930, en el pintoresco pueblo de Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Sus padres fueron Don Eladio Álvarez Alvarado y Doña Rosa Negrón Torres. Fue integrante de una numerosa familia, siendo la mayor de ocho hermanos en total. Ella y su hermana Elvira hermanas de padre y madre. Tuvo, además, cinco hermanos de parte de padre: Lydia, Rosin, Wilfredo, Eva y María, además su hermana Dulce María de parte de madre. Más adelante en su vida, conoció a su amado esposo, Agapito Mercado Ruiz, mejor conocido como Tito, en el Barrio La Changa en Caguas. Se casaron el 3 de marzo de 1960 y estuvieron juntos durante 65 años. Vivieron un tiempo en Puerto Rico, varios años en New Jersey y finalmente se establecieron en Saint Cloud, Florida. Estando en New Jersey, Naty trabajó por muchos años como supervisora en un almacén de alimentos en Lakawana, en Jersey City. Dios les permitió formar una familia hermosa y numerosa. Juntos construyeron una vida basada en el amor, el respeto y una devoción inquebrantable. Naty fue muy bendecida con el mejor don que Dios puedo otorgar a una mujer, la maternidad. Fue madre de doce hijos (once vivos). Digna, Pedro, Oscar, Annie, Luis, Norma, Myrna, Olga, Nerida, Mayra y Raúl. Innumerables atributos y virtudes adornaron a esta bella mujer, pequeña de estatura pero con un corazón enorme. Fue una persona que se ganó el respeto y el cariño de todos los que la conocieron. Amable, generosa, hospitalaria, buena anfitriona y de noble de corazón. Era cariñosa, amorosa, dadivosa, amigable, desprendida, excelente cocinera. Donde había alguna necesidad allí estaba ella para bendecir. Dondequiera que fue a vivir construyó relaciones duraderas de amistad. Hasta sus médicos y enfermeras eran sus amigos. El legado de Nay esta lleno de amor. Fue una orgullosa abuela de 36 nietos, bisabuela de 56, y tatarabuela de 6. Siempre estuvo al pendiente de visitar y compartir con su familia no importando las veces que tuviera que viajar, unos en Puerto Rico, otros en New Jersey y otros tanto en Pensilvania. Al igual sus hijos y nietos se las arreglaban para también viajar y compartir con su madre y abuela en el hogar de élla. Un testimonio viviente de las raíces profundas que sembró y del amor que siempre ofreció. Natividad amaba cocinar, hornear y hacer sus crusigramas. Le encantaba enseñar a sus nietos a preparar recetas como ella lo hacía. Pero sobre todo, disfrutaba hacerles batidas y pancakes a sus nietos. Si los niños no comían, ella los asustaba juguetonamente con cuentos de 'la vieja loca', pero siempre se aseguraba de preparar comidas que se ajustaran a sus gustos y preferencias. Una muestra sencilla, pero llena de amor. También era fanática de los boletos de la lotería instantánea (scratch-offs), y convirtió en tradición compartir la emoción de rasparlos con sus nietos cuando mas joven. Se divertía de las maneras más inesperadas, enseñandole cual es el mejor equipo de pelota, los Yankees, por supuesto. Incluso enseñándoles a jugar Mario en el Nintendo NES y los trucoos tambien, demostrando que las abuelas también saben jugar. Celebramos que como mujer cristiana, Dios le permitió ser miembro de la iglesia El Líbano en Kissimmee, con Pastor Hector Martinez, Pastora Tita y Pastora Keila, y vivía su espiritualidad con humildad, bondad y un corazón abierto. Su fuerza era silenciosa, pero poderosa, y su amor fue constante e incondicional. Amó a todos y cada uno de los miembros y fue una abuelita para los niños que la querían mucho. Fue gran colaboradora de la iglesia, constante en sus obligaciones y compromisos como parte del cuerpo de Jesucristo. Fiel a Dios, a su Palabra y a su comunidad de fe. Dios siempre la sostuvo a lo largo de su vida. Fue una mujer fuerte de espíritu. Nunca se quejó, nunca dejó de sonreír, nunca dejó de creer en su Dios y nunca dejó de amar. El día 26 de Junio del 2025, justo par de días de haber celebrado su cumpleaños 95, Dios la llamó a su presencia diciéndole tiernamente a su oído: ven que te mostraré la nueva habitación que tengo para ti. Natividad fue más que esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela. Ella fue el corazón de la familia. Una mujer de amor profundo, generosidad sin fin y alegría desbordante. Hizo que cada persona en su vida se sintiera especial. Su legado vive en cada receta, cada oración, y cada risa compartida por quienes la conocieron y amaron. La vamos a extrañar profundamente, pero la llevamos con nosotros en todo lo que hacemos. Su vida fue una bendición. Su recuerdo es un tesoro. Es amada más allá de las palabras y extrañada más allá de toda medida.
