In Loving Memory of Iris "Mama" Quiles Iris "Mama" Quiles, our cherished matriarch, made her peaceful transition to heaven on January 22nd, 2024, at the age of 95. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and the heartbeat of our family. Mama will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her; to know Mama was to love her, for she radiated a gentle and kind soul. Born on December 4th, 1928, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Mama spent her early years surrounded by the vibrant culture of her homeland. It was there that she met the love of her life, Manuel "Longi" Quiles. Together, they embarked on a journey to New York City in 1955, with their three young sons, Manuel Jr. (Pete or Pito), Edgardo (Barney or Galdee), and Carlos (Bert or Beltran), in pursuit of the American dream. Their family later expanded to include three more children: Blanca (Cha Cha), Luis-Antonio (Tony), and Luis-Arnaldo (Naldo). Mama's life centered around her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She found immense joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mama had a special place in her heart for Saturday evenings, as she delighted in watching her favorite show, Sabado Gigante, and indulging in her love for novellas. In 2015, Mama made the journey to Florida, where she resided with her grandson Luis Jr. (Chuno) until she received her angel wings. Mama is survived by her devoted children: Edgardo (Barney), Carlos (Bert), Luis-Antonio (Tony), Luis-Arnaldo, as well as her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel "Longi" Quiles (March 27th, 1993), daughter Blanca "Cha Cha" Quiles (May 11th, 2010), and son Manuel "Pete Jr." Quiles (September 15th, 2021). Mama's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Her sweetness, love, and caring nature touched the lives of everyone around her. The void left by her passing will be felt deeply by the entire family. In honoring Mama's legacy, let us remember the warmth she shared, the laughter she brought, and the love she bestowed upon us. We will love you forever our sweet Mama.
